Students must take 12 credits in each of three broad disciplinary areas for a total of 36 credits in order to graduate. The three broad disciplinary areas are Humanities and the Arts, Social and Behavioral Science, and Natural Science. Each of these areas is further broken down into individual disciplines. Students must take courses in at least three different disciplines within each broad area. Courses taken to fulfill the General Education requirement may also be used to fulfill requirements in a major, minor or certificate.

If a course from another institution transfers in to Parkside as a Parkside course that counts for General Education credit, the transfer course will count for the same General Education credit. If you think a course you took at another institution should count for credit at Parkside, you need to submit this request along with a copy of the syllabus for the course to the Director of General Education at generaleducation@uwp.edu. If you have any other extenuating circumstances that you believe merit an exception to the normal General Education graduation requirements, send that request to this email address as well.
