Mr. Damian Evans '96
Damian J. Evans, M.S., serves as assistant dean of Students, director of the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, as well as an adjunct instructor for the Ethnic Studies department at UW-Parkside. Damian earned a bachelor's degree in Communication from UW-Parkside and a Master of Science in Student Personnel Administration from Concordia University of Wisconsin.
Since beginning as a residence hall director at UW-Parkside in 2000, Damian has provided leadership to the university in addressing the achievement gap for low-income, first-generation, academically disadvantaged students, and students of color. In addition to leading student programs dealing with academic and professional skills, mentorship, and cultural understanding, Damian personally serves as a mentor and advocate for UW-Parkside students. He is also a leader in campus-wide efforts to improve student success, and works with community-based agencies to increase student enrollment and retention. Damian is a 2007-2008 UW-Parkside Advisor of the Year Award winner, a 2014-2015 UW-Parkside Campus Diversity Award winner, and a UW-Parkside Stella Gray Teaching Award Nominee.
Damian authored a chapter in the upcoming book Diversity in the College Classroom: Knowing Ourselves, Our Students & Our Disciplines. Additionally, he serves as a mentor for the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity (NCORE) Student Development Leadership Program (SLDP) and regularly presents to community groups on diversity and topics related to student success.
