UW-Parkside’s “Strong Start” annual professional development series is tailored exclusively for busy educators like you. This series aims to kickstart your school year with confidence and effectiveness!   Each 3-part virtual workshop is designed to provide you with relevant, engaging, actionable learning that will set you and your students up for success in the new school year.  Come and learn from our expert facilitators as you engage with your colleagues from around the state. 

Spanish for School Professionals

This 3-part VIRTUAL workshop will help you get off to a STRONG START with your Spanish-speaking students and families.  Join us as we learn basic, functional phrases to help multilingual students learn classroom routines and expectations, build relationships, and stay safe.  From grammatical structure to thematic vocabulary relevant to teaching, we will explore tools and strategies that will enable you to effectively communicate with your Spanish-speaking students and their families. Join us and take your Spanish proficiency to the next level as we build cultural and academic bridges together! No

This workshop is ideal for anyone who works or volunteers in a school
setting. Teachers, paraprofessionals, education assistants, administrators,
and community volunteers are all encouraged to attend.

This 3-part VIRTUAL workshop will help you get off to a STRONG START as we explore the essential skills needed to create a positive and productive learning environment.  We’ll delve into the art and science of effective classroom management, covering strategies for fostering a culture of respect, engagement, and academic success. From proactive techniques for setting clear expectations to responsive approaches for addressing challenging behaviors, you will explore practical tools and actionable insights that you can immediately implement in your classroom.

This workshop is a great starting place for new teachers and an effective refresher for veteran educators.
