The Center for Excellence in Inclusive Teaching & Learning (CEITL) supports the pursuit of inclusive teaching excellence by

  • promoting reflection and conversation about teaching and learning;
  • offering evidence-based resources and professional development opportunities;
  • creating opportunities for community and collaborative engagement on shared interests and challenges;
  • fostering a culture of inclusive practice so that all students, faculty, and staff feel that they belong and thrive at Parkside.

CEITL believes in the value of community and collaboration. We do not seek to impose a single pedagogical approach on the university’s instructors, but rather celebrate and learn from the rich diversity of instructional styles practiced on our campus.

Faculty College 2025

When: May 27th - 30th
Where: Elkhart Lake, WI

UW’s Office of Professional & Instructional Development (OPID's) 2025 Faculty College will take place May 27-30 at the Osthoff Resort at Elkhart Lake. Faculty College is a professional development retreat for university teams from across the UW-System. This year’s theme is (Re)Engaging with the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL) with guest facilitators Nancy Chick (Rollins College) and Peter Felten (Elon University). The program will reaffirm our commitment to the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning as a framework for better understanding our teaching approaches as they impact student learning. It is a wonderful opportunity to rejuvenate, engage with colleagues from across campus and across the system, and to ease your way into the summer months after a long academic year!

Faculty College consists of morning plenary workshops followed by afternoon team discussions. Meals, after-dinner programs, and the evening firepit gatherings near Elkhart Lake are opportunities for networking and connecting with systemwide colleagues. Participants’ lodging, meals, and programming fees are covered by OPID and UW-Parkside will cover travel costs. This year’s Faculty College will involve a team of ten individuals and has a particular focus on rethinking and redesigning student assignments. The Committee on Teaching & Learning invites you to apply to be part of Parkside’s team by submitting your application by no later than noon on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025. All full-time Parkside faculty and instructors are eligible to apply. Those who have participated in previous Faculty Colleges are welcome to apply if it has been at least 5 years since you last attended.
