UW-Parkside Hosts Science Night April 9

Dr. A. Scott Muerhoff, Director of Research and Development at Abbott and Distinguished Research Fellow, to speak at UW-Parkside Science Night

Dr. A. Scott MuerhoffKenosha, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites the community to join us on April 9 at 7 p.m. in Greenquist Hall, Lecture Hall L103, for Science Night, featuring speaker Dr. A. Scott Muerhoff, Senior Director of Research and Development and Distinguished Research Fellow with Abbott Diagnostics. The featured presentation, Insight and Innovation: Dr. A. Scott Muerhoff’s Journey at Abbott, will provide highlights of Dr. Muerhoff’s career in healthcare. This event is free and open to the public.

As the Senior Director of Research and Development and Distinguished Research Fellow with Abbott Diagnostics, Dr. Muerhoff has served an impressive and impactful 33 years at Abbott. He will discuss career highlights and the positive changes his work has made to the healthcare community. This is an exciting opportunity to hear from a distinguished scientist and director at a globally recognized industry leader in medical devices, healthcare products, and cutting-edge research.

Dr. Muerhoff earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in chemistry in 1983 at UW-Whitewater. He was named the UW-Whitewater 2021 Distinguished Alumnus for Professional Achievement. Dr. Muerhoff earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Scripps Research Institute.

He joined the Diagnostics Division of Abbott Laboratories in 1992, where he led the team responsible for the acquisition and implementation of new techniques for discovery of novel high-affinity binding reagents and the management of Bioprocess Manufacturing Design and Analytical Chemistry Groups. He has published more than 70 manuscripts and is an inventor on more than 35 U.S. patents.
