KENOSHA, WI — The University of Wisconsin-Parkside has awarded nearly $1 million in scholarships to nearly 350 students this academic year.

UW-Parkside is dedicated to making higher education accessible to students through robust scholarship programs, including the Future Focus Fund and efforts such as the Ascension Scholars, Froedtert Scholars, Callahan Scholars, and Picken Arts & Humanities Scholarship. These scholarships ensure that students have the financial assistance they need to succeed and complete their degrees.

“We’re committed to providing students with the tools they need to thrive academically,” said Dr. Akey, Chancellor of UW-Parkside. “These scholarships represent not just financial support, but also a promise to our students that they can achieve their dreams.”

A key initiative that exemplifies this commitment is the Parkside Pathway Fund, a new $75,000 fund created by the UW-Parkside Foundation Board. The Parkside Pathway Fund is designed to assist students—whether they are entering UW-Parkside directly out of high school or transferring from other institutions—by providing vital financial support to ensure that UW-Parkside can truly become their academic home.

“Establishing the Parkside Pathway Fund demonstrates our commitment to not just enrolling students, but ensuring they have the resources to succeed,” said Dr. Akey. “Whether students are just beginning their college journey or continuing their education at Parkside, this fund will help open doors to a bright future.”

In addition to scholarship growth, the university has experienced remarkable fundraising success over the last five years. UW-Parkside’s philanthropic efforts have nearly doubled, with annual giving reaching an average of $3 million per year. Since 2019, the university has secured more than $17 million in philanthropic donations, underscoring the dedication of its community in advancing the institution’s mission and vision.

“The generosity of our donors is a reflection of the deep commitment to our university and its future,” said Dr. Akey. “This growth in philanthropic giving is not just about numbers; it’s about expanding access, enhancing the student experience, and creating pathways to success.”

Since its founding in 1968, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside has been a trusted partner for the region’s higher educational needs, empowering students to thrive, advancing applied knowledge, and developing talent for the future. The university offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as certificates and pre-professional programs, designed to foster personal and professional growth through real-world and impactful learning experiences. Located in the dynamic Chicago-Milwaukee corridor, UW-Parkside offers unmatched access to world-class internships, professional networks, and endless career-building opportunities, placing students at the center of it all.
