Historic Week for Rangers Athletics

Mia JohnsonThe University of Wisconsin-Parkside Athletics Department is enjoying historic success across multiple sports during the Spring 2025 Semester. In the past week, UW-Parkside’s Mia Johnson was named the GLIAC Softball Player of the Week for the second week in a row, two track and field athletes set university records, another track and field athlete met the NCAA Division II Provisional mark in the high jump, and the UW-Parkside baseball team notched its 20th win of the season, putting them at 20-7 on the season, their best start in 20 years.

Johnson Repeats as GLIAC Softball Player of the Week

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selected Mia Johnson as the GLIAC Softball Player of the Week for the second week in a row. Johnson was a force at the plate for the Rangers including a walk-off grand slam against Wayne State. In the field Johnson was automatic. She was a perfect 25 for 25 on putouts while playing at third base and catcher for the Rangers.

Rangers Set School Records at Track and Field Outdoor Opening Weekend

The Parkside women's track & field team closed out their opening weekend of the outdoor season on Saturday afternoon at the SLU Billiken Invite. The Rangers continued the big weekend with big performances, including new school records by Essence Burrows and Mckenna Armstrong. Burrows set the new record in the triple jump with a mark of 11.63m. Armstrong set the new school record in the javelin with a mark of 37.41m which is just under a meter better than the record she set last May.

Simon Dominic achieves NCAA Division II Provisional mark

The Parkside men's track & field team closed out their opening weekend of the outdoor season on Saturday afternoon at the SLU Billiken Invite. The Rangers continued the big weekend with big performances, including Simon Dominic hitting the NCAA Division II Provisional mark in the high jump, the minimum qualifying standard that an athlete must meet to be considered for a spot in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Parkside Baseball Earns 20th Victory of the Season

Parkside wrapped up its four-game series against Roosevelt with its second consecutive doubleheader sweep on Saturday. Once again, the Rangers showcased their high-powered offense, scoring a combined 19 runs in the two games and 42 over the weekend. After winning 21 games last season, Parkside is nearing that mark before the month of April. This victory marks the 20th of the season for Parkside. The Rangers have now won five straight and sit at 20-7 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
