In 2008, USA Today ranked Racine as one of the best places to be on Independence Day. A lot of that has to do with the city's historic 4th of July parade. Once again this year, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside -- led by the UW-Parkside Alumni Association -- proudly marched the parade route before more than 100,000 spectators.

The UW-Parkside Alumni Association is an organization for all alumni with an undergraduate or graduate degree from UW Parkside. During its 47-year history, the university has conferred more than 22,000 undergraduate and graduate degrees. The majority of UW-Parkside alumni live in southeastern Wisconsin and northeastern Illinois.

The UW-Parkside Alumni Association recently elected a new board of directors and board president Kristine Perez says the group is excited to continue its involvement with UW-Parkside and the communities served by the university. "Alumni can keep in touch and stay up to date with the Alumni Association on our Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn pages," Perez said. "We look forward to a great year."
