Position Title: Strength & Conditioning Graduate Assistant Coach
Employment Type: Part-time, Academic Staff, Exempt
Reports To: Head Strength & Conditioning Coach
The successful candidates will work a 10-month appointment for the 2022-23 academic year with the opportunity for renewal of a second year. Each graduate assistant will receive a full tuition waiver and an annual stipend of $7,500, paid monthly. These positions will remain open until filled. Anticipated start date for the positions will be August 1, with the potential for a mutually-agreed upon earlier start date and summer employment.
The coaching graduate assistants will also serve as an instructor for one activity class for the Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Management department (HKSM). To be eligible, students must be admitted to the in-person Master of Sport Management Program (MSSM) at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Appointments are contingent upon maintenance of minimum credit requirements and good standing in the MSSM program.
Parkside Athletics and HKSM have collaborated on the graduate assistant program for four years, fostering success for the athletics department, sport management program, and, most importantly, the graduate students. Alumni of the program have gone onto successful careers in college athletics and in club/youth and professional sports, including North Dakota State, Indiana State, Colorado College, Stephen F. Austin, UW-Parkside, University of Illinois-Chicago, and Quincy.
Essential Job Functions
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for the position of Strength & Conditioning Graduate Assistant Coach. To be eligible, prospective candidates must be accepted into one of the Master’s Degree programs at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The Strength & Conditioning Graduate Assistant Coach will report directly to the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, and will gain experience assisting with all aspects of a NCAA Division II strength and conditioning program.
Key Job Responsibilities
The strength and conditioning graduate assistant will work in conjunction with the Strength and Conditioning Head Coach, with duties including but not limited to:
• Assist with designing and executing the sport performance programs for Parkside’s 15 intercollegiate teams, including but not limited to:
- Design sport performance programs for assigned teams
- Conduct individual and team workouts
- Communication with coaching staffs and sports medicine staff
• Assist in the operations of the strength & conditioning center and other fitness facilities:
- Assist in the scheduling and training of student workers
- Work on average 10 hours per week at the front desk of the strength and conditioning center during the semester
- Work on average 20 hours per week at the front desk of the strength and conditioning center during Winterim
• Must be CSCS or SCCC certification
