Position Title: Regional Admissions Counselor (Admissions and Recruitment Coordinator II). This is a Two-year Interim Position.
Reports To: Assistant Vice Chancellor Enrollment Services/Director of Admissions
Pay Range: $44,000 - $50,000
The Regional Admissions Counselor plays an important role in the recruitment and outreach activities of the Admissions Office in the Northern Illinois region. Our goal is to increase the number of applicants to the University and enroll a talented and diverse student body. This staff member will meet with prospective students and their families, high school counselors, various groups on and off campus, and other community contacts to promote the opportunities offered at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. A significant part of the recruitment process will be establishing and nurturing relationships that can serve as a conduit for students to learn more about UW-Parkside. This staff member will collaborate with other Admissions Office staff members, working together to coordinate recruitment activities. All duties shall be executed in support of access and inclusion.
This is an off-campus position, and the incumbent will work from a home office. The incumbent must currently live or be willing to relocate to the Northeast Illinois region. Candidates must be able and willing to travel at least 75% of the time throughout the following Illinois counties: Lake, McHenry, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage and Cook and be willing to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
This position will contribute positively to the Admissions Office team environment through participation in weekly meetings, in-person attendance as needed at trainings and campus events, and consistent communication with colleagues located on the UW-Parkside campus.
Essential Job Functions
- Coordinate and implement a personalized recruitment program involving high school visits, phone calls, correspondence, and campus visits.
- Represent UW-Parkside during high school visits, at college fairs, college night programs and other events in assigned area. Travel is required.
- Meet with prospective students and families in a variety of settings.
- Be familiar with the academic programs at the University and other opportunities available.
- Be knowledgeable about all aspects of the admissions process of new students, including admissions policies and procedures, standardized tests, financial aid, costs, etc.
- Develop and implement strategies to establish relationships with organizations, community groups and individuals that can influence prospective students and families.
- Participate in on-campus visitation programs, including, but not limited to Fall and Spring Open House and Admitted Students Day programs, and other on-campus visit options.
- Follow up with assigned student populations through the recruitment and enrollment process.
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies to identify prospective students and encourage them to apply for admission.
- Work autonomously and independently while also participating and working collaboratively with the rest of the admissions team to meet enrollment goals.
- Engage the university community in developing cross-functional partnerships to enhance the prospective student experience.
- Prepare weekly/monthly reports on recruitment activities and applicant behaviors
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree
- Experience working with students with diverse backgrounds
- Willingness and flexibility working some weekends and evenings
- Valid driver's license
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Student Affairs/Higher Ed Administration, Counseling, Communication or Related Field
- Two years of professional work experience; sales and/or higher education recruiting experience preferred
- Familiarity with Northeastern Illinois
- Ability to present information to large and small groups
- Experience with Slate, Peoplesoft, Image Now and Navigate preferred
- Spanish language proficiency preferred
