Position Title: Athletics Student Success Lead
Employment Type: Full-time 12-month position
Reports To: Deputy Director of Athletics
Pay: Full Time Pay Range: $42,000
Reporting to the Deputy Athletic Director. The position will be titled Athletics Student Success Lead. The principal function of the position is to serve as a student success coach to student-athletes in all sports and acting as liaison between athletics and academic advisors and academic support services across campus (specifically the PARC, Academic Advising and Career Center, and primary advisors within the academic departments). A key member of the administrative team, this position will assist in the design and implementation of initiatives and programming to promote eligibility, retention, and degree completion for student-athletes. This position will also assist in developing and executing a comprehensive student-athlete development program, promoting life skills, career preparation, and health and wellness.

Essential Job Functions

Serve as a secondary academic advisor and success coach to student-athletes

Serve as the athletics liaison to academic advisors across campus, including attendance at meetings in cooperation with the Director of Academic and Career Advising for the institution.

Participate and assist with athletics new student orientation sessions, including advising and registration on those dates.

Provide outreach and education to incoming transfer and freshman student-athletes, including identifying college level course they may have previously completed.

Coordinate study hall for new student-athletes and continuing student-athletes who do not meet specified academic requirements.

Meet regularly with at-risk and ineligible student-athletes, to ensure remediation of eligibility issues, and aid in their retention and persistence at the institution. Serve as a member of the athletics administration and the student-athlete eligibility certification team.

Work closely with the Compliance Office and FAR regarding eligibility issues, missed class issues, and related interventions.

Review student-athlete course schedule prior to the beginning of each semester to flag potential issues of eligibility or progress towards degree.

Monitor full-time enrollment daily, approve changes and communicates when students drop to part-time status and no longer eligible to participate.

Coordinate the collection of faculty academic progress reports, and grade checks. Share relevant information to coaches and Athletic Administration in a proactive fashion.

Lead Athletics representation related to University New Student Orientation programming.

Assist in coordinating and presenting at educational sessions for student-athletes, athletic staff, and cross-campus and external constituents.

Assist in the planning and execution of comprehensive student-athlete development programming.

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree.
- One year of full-time professional experience in college athletics
- Relevant experience in the area of success coaching, advising and student-athlete development programming within college athletics.
Preferred:
- Master's Degree Sports Management, Education, or related field
- 2 years of experience in college athletics
- Knowledge of current academic and eligibility legislation in college athletics.
- Experience with the NCAA eligibility certification process.
Physical Demands of the Job:
- Ability to remain seated or stand for extended periods while advising, coaching, or coordinating administrative tasks.
- Mobility to move between campus locations, such as academic buildings, athletic facilities, and meeting spaces.
- Dexterity to operate office equipment, including computers, printers, and projectors, and to prepare and manage documents or presentations.
- Visual acuity to review student records, academic schedules, and other detailed documentation.
- Hearing acuity to effectively communicate with students, faculty, staff, and athletic teams in person, over the phone, or in group settings.
- Ability to carry materials, such as student-athlete files or event supplies, weighing up to 10 pounds.
- Flexibility to adapt to various work environments, including offices, classrooms, and athletic venues
- Occasional travel across campus or to external events as needed.
