The Theatre Arts Department at UW-Parkside is proud to be a nationally and regionally recognized program. It features a robust company model style of training, supported by nine highly dedicated faculty and staff members who actively work in the professional industry. The department offers a major with five focused concentrations: Acting, Directing, Musical Theatre, Design and Technology, and Stage Management alongside a generalist track. With beautiful, state-of-the-art facilities, rigorous training, and updated equipment and technology, the program supports four mainstage productions each season, one to two student-directed productions, staged readings, additional Musical Theatre programming, and a Dance Minor. This high level of engagement drives strong annual partnerships with professional companies regionally and nationally. Theatre students regularly participate in talent reviews and showcases, creating valuable opportunities for internships and industry employment during their studies and post-graduation.
Position Title: Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts

Reports To: The Assistant Professor of Theatre will report to Chair of Theatre Arts
Pay Range: Commensurate with experience
Essential Job Functions
Key Job Responsibilities:
This position will teach 24 credits annually (4/4 standard fall/spring teaching load) in the Theatre Arts program. The department seeks a colleague with expertise in Musical Theatre, Voice and Movement, and Performance-focused pedagogy.
This position is expected to establish and maintain creative activities reflective of their area of expertise. In addition, the position will be expected to contribute service to UW-Parkside, the College of Arts and Humanities, the Theatre Arts Department, the profession, and the community. This individual will be involved in additional supervision and mentoring of students through production work and advising.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- MFA in Acting, Directing, or Musical Theatre and/or PH.D. in some area of Theatre Arts.
- An Interest and ability to teach a wide range of courses.
- Demonstrated experience in Vocal Coaching
- Provide evidence of professional experience as a Director and/or Actor
- Evidence of successful university teaching
The ideal candidate will possess Linklater Certification and/or certification in other recognized voice and speech techniques. Other preferred experiences include Intimacy Direction, Dance Choreography, and a minimum of 3 years of collegiate teaching experience.
Physical Demands of the Job:
- Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods during lectures, office hours, and meetings.
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer, use teaching tools, and handle instructional materials.
- Adequate vision to read and create teaching materials, presentations, and student work.
- Sufficient hearing to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and during classroom or lecture activities.
- Capability to move between classrooms, offices, and campus locations as needed.
- Ability to lift and carry light materials or equipment
