Professor Rockendorf has an extensive background in health information management. She transitioned from industry to higher education in 2016. She is the recipient of the Distinguished Member Award and the 2020 Educator Award from the Wisconsin Health Information Management Association (WHIMA).

Betty serves on the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Council for Excellence in Education (CEE). In the past she served on the Curricular workgroup and HIM Reimagined workgroup, and the Information Governance Task Force.

Betty was a Director of the Wisconsin Health Information Management Association for five years, serving as President in 2018-19, and on the Executive Committee for three years. She was Chief Delegate for the State of Wisconsin in the AHIMA House of Delegates, and also spent two prior years as a delegate advocating for the HIM profession.

Professor Rockendorf is the HIMT Capstone Coordinator and Instructor. She utilizes her professional contacts to assist students in securing and planning their individual Capstone experiences. She is also a valuable resource for HIMT career coaching.
