Donald KummingsProfessor of English |
Donald Kummings teaches American literature and creative writing. An Indiana University Ph.D., he has also taught
at Indiana, Purdue University, and Adrian College (Michigan). He has written
over 150 articles and
reviews on Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, William Carlos Williams, Henry James and other
American authors, publishing in such journals as the Canadian Review of American
Studies, Comparative Literature Studies, American Literature, American Poetry, Clio, Arizona Quarterly,
Studies in Short Fiction, Wisconsin Academy Review, and the Walt Whitman Quarterly Review.
He has often given talks on Whitman at professional meetings, including
addresses at the Modern Language Association convention in Washington, D.C., at the American Literature Association convention in San Diego,
California, at the Walt Whitman House in Camden, New Jersey, and at the Gorky
Institute of World Literature
in Moscow, Russia.

He is also the author of The Open Road Trip, (Tunnel, New York: Geryon Press, 1989), a collection of poems awarded the Posner Poetry Prize by the Council for Wisconsin Writers. At Indiana University, he won the Academy of American Poets Prize.
