TEXT: Greenblatt, et.al., The Norton Shakespeare, 2nd ed., 1-vol
format, hardcover (ISBN 978-0-393-92991-1)
[This is a big thick book, hard to carry and fairly costly, though not really that much
more expensive than a bunch of paperbacks. But it is a wonderful complete Shakespeare and a
book that should be in your library for the rest of your life.]
GRADING: Grades will be based primarily on the exams, with up to 40% allowed for class participation, including required internet activities and optional short papers.
CALENDAR OF READINGS
This semester we will read a few sonnets but concentrate on a
great run of plays from the
turn of the century,
all of them (except for the obligatory
Hamlet)
picked partly because I didn't teach them the last time I taught this course.
