Research Interests

My research interests include gender and the self. Within these relatively broad areas I have conducted research on

• Gender differences in the accuracy of self-perceptions.

• Gender stereotypes.

• Gender differences in causal attributions of performance.

• Self-consistent tendencies.


Grants and Consulting

• Served as advisor and mentor for a team of Physics instructors to increase awareness of gender issues at the Curricular Reform Institute, Oshkosh, WI.

• From 2000-2005 I was Principal Investigator on a $428,367 grant from the National Science Foundation for the proposal "Predictors of Women's Interest and Retention in Undergraduate IT Majors". Results of the studies can be found under
Publications and Presentations.

• I have served on the advisory board of another NSF grant.

• I have participated in an NSF site visit of a multi-million dollar grant.

• As a consultant I conducted a gender climate study and wrote an official report for a private liberal arts college.
