Topic: KM and the Knowledge Society
in Africa: Light at the End of the Tunnel or an On-coming
Train?
The notions of KM (knowledge management), a knowledge
society, innovation economies as well as knowledge economies have become buzz
words and are used interchangeably in literature to reflect the new global
technological and economic landscape. The question is however: Where does Africa
stand as a knowledge society? Will Africa survive this
century and if so what is needed to make this happen?
These are some of the questions that Dr. Britz will
address in his talk. The focus will be specific on:
·
The so-called ‘log-on’ effect on Africa
·
Knowledge management in a total different
paradigm (in Africa)
·
Knowledge workers (Brain gain or brain drain in Africa)
·
The road ahead
