University of Wisconsin-Parkside Presents Student Showcase Highlighting Innovation and Research Across Disciplines

Kenosha, WI - The University of Wisconsin-Parkside will conduct its annual Student Showcase on Wednesday, April 24 in the Student Center. This event promises a vibrant display of scholarly exploration and creativity from undergraduate and graduate students across diverse disciplines.

The UW-Parkside Student Showcase is a campus-wide celebration inviting undergraduate and graduate students to present their projects, which range from independent research initiatives to collaborations with faculty or staff mentors. Projects may include posters displaying independent research, creative activities, scholarly works, internships, or community-based learning projects.

Additionally, students will have the opportunity to showcase professional portfolios, short performances in theatre arts, and project-based videos or movies. The event will conclude with the Quick Pitch competitive presentation, where top presentations will receive monetary awards.

With approximately 115 UW-Parkside students presenting their research as authors and co-authors, 43 poster presentations, and 12 professional portfolios, the diversity and depth of talent on display are truly inspiring.

"The annual Student Showcase highlights UW-Parkside’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and providing students with valuable experiential learning opportunities," remarked Dr. David Higgs, professor of bioscience and coordinator of the event. "As our students demonstrate their knowledge and skills across various disciplines, they prepare to make meaningful contributions to our global knowledge economy and address the emerging needs of our region and beyond."

The Student Showcase will provide a platform for attendees to engage with the presenters and learn more about their findings. Members of the community are cordially invited to participate in this event, which promises to highlight the university's commitment to fostering critical inquiry and interdisciplinary collaboration.

• 12:15 p.m. -- Opening remarks and welcome by Chancellor Akey (Ballroom)
• 12:20 – 12:40 p.m. -- Theatrical Presentation, Scene from Peter and the Starcatcher (Ballroom)
• 12:45 – 3:00 p.m. -- Professional Portfolios and Research Posters (Ballroom)
• 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. -- Quick Pitch Competition (Walnut Room)

Additionally, attendees are encouraged to mark their calendars for the full theatrical presentation of Peter and the Starcatcher April 26, 27, and May 3, 4 at 7 p.m., with a special morning showing on May 3 at 10 a.m., and matinee performances on April 28 and May 5 at 2 p.m.
